Located at 12102 100 Street in Grande Prairie, Cedar Point is a purpose-built supportive housing facility aimed at providing long-term solutions for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This thoughtfully designed development combines affordable housing with critical support services, fostering a stable and inclusive environment for residents.
Overview
Atkinson Construction was awarded the contract as the General Contractor, managing the full construction process — from initial site development to the final handover. The project delivers a total of 106 housing units, including 63 supportive housing units and 43 affordable housing units, totaling to do 79,000 SF. Each unit is designed to meet diverse community needs while promoting safety, dignity, and well-being.
Scope
Concrete and Structural Work
Atkinson managed the complete foundation and structural framing, including reinforced concrete slabs, load-bearing walls, and multi-story framing to ensure long-term durability and structural integrity.
Building Envelope Construction
The facility features a high-performance building envelope with energy-efficient cladding systems, robust insulation, and weatherproofing to enhance energy efficiency and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
Interior Finishes and Amenities
High-quality, durable materials were used for all interior finishes, including flooring, wall treatments, and fixtures. Communal spaces, such as shared kitchens, dining rooms, wellness areas, and cultural spaces, were designed to foster a sense of community and well-being among residents.
Sustainability and Accessibility
The building was constructed with sustainable practices, including energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly materials, to reduce the facility's environmental impact. Full barrier-free accessibility was integrated throughout, ensuring all residents can navigate the space safely and comfortably.
